Endourology WorkshopsThe first SAES Endourology workshop was successfuly hosted in 2008.
The second SAES Endourology workshop, hosted at Greys Hospital in Pietermaritzburg on 15 and 16 November 2010 was another great success. Approximately 70 urologists and registrars from around Southern Africa attended.
International guest surgeons Prof Arthur Smith, Prof Jaime Landman, Prof Manoj Monga and Prof Andreas Gross, as well as local guest surgeons performed endoscopic, laparoscopic and stone surgery, exhibiting their skill and providing valuable insights and training. Dr Mitch Terk, a world renowned brachytherapy specialist demonstrated brachytherapy and gave tips and tricks from his vast experience.
Over the course of the two days, five laparoscopic cases, five TURIS cases, one brachytherapy case, three flexible ureteroscopy and laser lithotripsy cases and three PCNL cases were performed, with the attendees having the opportunity to assist in some cases, and to share their experience. Videos of these cases will be made available on the website in due course. In the mean time, please feel free to log in and view the existing videos which are available to members only. If you have forgotten your username and password, please email the webmaster.
The Southern African Endourology Society workshop is planned to take place annually from now on. More information on next year's workshop will be posted in due course.
