Equipment Considerations
The equipment required to perform laparoscopic urological procedures will depend on the type of procedure as well as the surgeons personal preverance. By providing a recommended list of equipent, a urologist in training and theatre staff can plan a procedure by following these guidelines. All the equipment needed are listed in table format with the corresponding operation. The list can be adapted for company specific instruments as well as a generic equipment listing depending on the requirement. This list of equipment has been compiled with the aim of producing a guide as to which instuments is acceptable to use during each operations. It also adheres to the principle of seeking the most cost effective solution for each clinical scenario. In a training situation it remains the prerogitive of the trainer to choose the most suitable list of equipment for each particular clinical scenario to optimize the clinical outcome in the most cost effective manner.
